Hip-hop festival returns to Birmingham Hippodrome

The annual free Hip-Hop festival called B-SIDE is returning to Birmingham on its 3rd year. It will take place from 9th to 13th May this year, to celebrate everything Hip-Hop, featuring a series of performances, dance competitions, live graffiti art, interactive talks and high-energy workshops. It will be celebrated in Birmingham, around the streets of the Southside area and in the Hippodrome of course.

Headline acts confirmed include Green Tek, the renowned popper and Menno Van Gorp, Red Bull BC Champion. More acts will be revealed in the weeks ahead and the festival will bring in appearances of some of the best artist, both international and national, besides showcasing some of the finest local talents of the city.

A new Hip-Hop game show is among the packed programme of events, giving audiences a chance to test their knowledge and compete. There will be creative labs, master classes and talks from hip-hop professionals and pioneers, like Henry Link.

B-Side will kick-off at a pre-dated launch event, at The Lighthouse Young Peoples Centre, on 7th April (Saturday), from 12pm. See a preview what’s offered at main May event. The free festival gets funding from Southside BID, Arts Council England and The Arcadian. The festival is sponsored by POSCA and produced by Birmingham Hippodrome, partnering MC Juice Aleem, Break Mission, Michael Riviere, the choreographer and graffitiartist.com.
