The Crystal Palace Festival is returning with free events
A prominent free cultural event in South London, the Crystal Palace Festival, is one of the largest and is back this year to the Crustal Palace area, to run from 11th to 17th June. This arts and culture festival also has an event at Crystal Palace’s park to cap it off, fixed for 16th of June. Last year, the event attracted about 30,000 visitors. This year organisers expect a bigger crowd coming to enjoy the line-up of visual arts, theatre, music, spoken word, family and community activities, and the headliners Stereo MCs and Polarbear.
Funding from Bromley Council, Croydon Council and Arts Council England, has resulted in the festival’s outreach work and participatory arts projects. Projects include concerts by the London Mozart Players at Crystal Palace Railway Station, local care homes and the park children’s farm. The week-long arts and culture festival has got mainly free events, all being organised by local community groups, churches, schools, pubs and traders.
Native Sessions event – BARS coming to Barbican Centre
Native Instruments are coming up with the next Native Sessions event called BARS, on 11th April. The event explores Grime, UK Rap, MC culture and more. It will focus on the ever changing Rap scene, their local imprints and defining methods. The programme includes a perceptive mix of production demonstrations, roundtable talks and candid Q&A sessions in the evenings. Some who are taking part in the workshops are Flowdan, DJ Target, Jaykae, Steel Banglez, P Money, Ms Banks and Sir Spyro.
Native Instruments, an innovative organisation, is a globally known brand and has a hands on approach to education and development. The event at the Barbican Centre in London will host chats on “In Conversation”. It will feature DJ Target of 1Xtra and Ms Banks, the South London rapper known for lyrics of individuality and empowerment. There will be a roundtable from all producers who are seen to make huge movements in the music scene. A series of interactive workshops too will feature in BARS, featuring Bamz, Sir Spyro and Fowdan.
