The Rugby Art Gallery and Museum this year has a theme on portraits. The exhibition will be telling the story of some of the artists found in the Rugby collection. This spring, the exhibition is curated with the help from loans, from The Lowry, The National Portrait Gallery and with Rugby’s nationally renowned collection. Th self-portraits loaned include Eduardo Paolozzi, Edward Bawden, Lucian Freud and Lowry.
The exhibition will also showcase the regular favourites of the Rugby Collection, along with the curated ‘About Face” exhibition. A host of portraits and a packed programme of events will give visitors an opportunity to expand their knowledge and learn a new skill on the subject. Talks included have hosts like Lubaina Himid and Claudette Johnson, plus a talk by artist Winston Branch from Rugby Collection. Visitors also will be given an opportunity to add to the changing gallery of faces, their own ‘selfie’, to get them involved. All are welcome with also free entry to the preview on 29th March (Thursday) from 6pm to8pm. The exhibition will run from 30th March to 16th June at the Warwickshire town’s famous venue.
