The Phoenix Season at the Battersea Arts Centre is a celebration for the opening of the Grand Hall in September. The centre was ravaged by fire in 2015 and now reopens with new working spaces and a season with free events and cheap tickets.

Highlights of the Phoenix season includes Gecko’s Missing again, Adam by National Theatre of Scotland, Superblackman by Lekan Lawal and Beatboxing Championship. Across the season the centre’s Local Roots programme will sell 2,000 tickets for £1, to people of low incomes, via voluntary organisations and charities. To say thank you, 10 free events will be designed for Battersea supporters. One is the ceremonial photo in the Grand Hall. A new Phoenix award includes a £4,000 commission to talented artists. The programme will run for the next 3 years.

Artistic Director David Jubb, also CEO, said they are grateful to everyone for their support, time and advice, over the last 3 years, to keep them going. He hoped the Phoenix Season will be bring thousands of people together and rise up to make a difference. The Scratch Hub is another addition at the centre, to offer a home for local and creative start-ups.
