Seventh Colourfest to return to Dorset’s Gaunts House

March 10th, 2018 by Sandy

Colourfest returns bringing the unique opportunity with it the celebration of life and connection, through yoga, ceremony, music, dance, theatre and arts. The seventh Colourfest will be held from 31st May (Thursday) to 3rd June (Sunday), at the Gaunts House, set in the beautiful countryside of Dorset, in Wimbourne.

The festival is an alcohol and drug-free event, set amid stunning vistas, open landscapes and ancient trees. It offers a retrospective alternative to the many hedonistic music festivals of UK, with yoga at the festival’s core. The many performances, workshops and activities infused with its ethos and spirit, offer an experience of deep connection ad nourishment, bringing an uplifting and calm ambience.

The festival offers dance jams and variety of workshops, covering the psychology of movement with yoga and dance. Highlights include Denise Rowe with African ceremonial dance, The Urubu Collective, the ecstatic dance band and ‘Silent Rythms’ in the woods.

The yoga programme has high calibre teachers, including Swami Ashokananda, the renowned hatha yogi, catering for a range of styles, including partner yoga and acro yoga. Many classes will have live music. The well-being programme includes meditation, sound healing, gong baths and many personal development workshops.

There’s an eclectic line-up of musicians and bands in the Colourfest Cafe. Confirmed acts include Glowglobes. There’s acoustic gypsy jazz, vocal harmonies, folk, gypsy songs and dance. There’s a safe, creative space for children at the festival’s kids’ area, with an outdoor pool, a woodland fairy walk and tents for hooping, storytellers, children’s yoga, crafts and theatre.

The Gaunt House venue also provides accommodation, cafes and vendors who offer a range of vegetarian/vegan cuisine. Co-organiser of the free event Colourfest, Rowan Cobelli, says the family-friendly festival is an evolving gem, created for a connecting and restorative experience, catering for those starting to explore life and themselves, besides offering to those more experienced and transformative.
