First fashion week in York coming in April
The first ever fashion week in York this year, is being organised by Fashion City York (FCY).The week-long event will celebrate fashion and style and will help showcase York’s thriving talent, creativity and style. FCY is offering 7 days of exciting fashion shows this year, which will take place from 16th to 27th April. The brochure for the free event is being launched on 28th February, at 6pm, at Marks and Spencers on Pavement in the city, for a preview of what’s in store for April. Chairman of FCY, Angela Horner is proud that there is something for everyone and so many ways to get involved in the fashio week.
Angela has been amazed by the enthusiasm and support from independents and big brands, that shows how collaborative are York’s businesses. She added that they have ambition to grow this into a destination event, drawing in more visitors and to benefit local businesses. Antonia Houston, York’s couturier, will get the honour of opening the event with her Yorkshire Dandy collection. Antonia has teamed up with Knot & Bloom and Meiji Design. Lined up for the week are catwalk shows, beauty sessions plus a fashion hub at Shambles Market. There’s also a talk revealing the history of underwear at Castle Museum. Youngsters too get an inspiring series of fun-filled events. To book tickets and for details about the free event go to the site – yorkfashionweek.co.uk.
