A free wedding fair is being organised by the Registration Service of Northumberland County Council at the refurbished Northumberland Hall in Alnwick. The free event will be held from 11am to 3pm on 4th February (Sunday), hosting over 30 wedding specialists who are North-East-based. They include florists, wedding outfitters, photographers, car-hire specialists, cake-makers, plus catering, music and entertainment companies.
The venue is Grade 1 Northumberland Hall and its transformation was unveiled during the summer of 2016. The place received an upgrade worth £328,000 by the council, to get it more attractive to host events and weddings. It got new lightings, a décor, curtains and a catering-style kitchen too.
Northumberland has recorded more number of couples booking to marry and registrars last year officiated over 1,750 marriages. This year, 2,020 more marriages have been booked. The wedding boom is bringing in £30 million into the business every year. Statistics show that 65% of those getting married, come from outside the county. Registrars will be available at the free event in Northumberland Hall, to offer advice and guidance to couples and visitors forthcoming to the wedding fair.
