Women with particular expertise are being offered free media familiarisation by the BBC Academy. Those women who are interested in appearing on radio, television and online as presenters or contributors can get the chance and are encouraged to apply for it.
BBC is looking out for female experts who can talk knowledgeably on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) subjects. BBC Scotland is offering, in conjunction with STV and BBC Academy, a free media familiarisation day for those unsure, to help them get confidence and skills to appear in the media, for participating in BBC programmes.
Those women willing are invited to posit an application, with CV and a 2-minute video and answering questions regarding their area of expertise. The familiarisation day is slated for 13th March, 2018, at the HQ of BBC Scotland, on 40 Pacific Quay, Glasgow and applicants should be able to attend it. Selected delegates will undergo the free training.
Besides the STEM subjects, BBC is on a lookout for women with expert knowledge in other areas. They’re looking specifically at aspects of Brexit (economy), politics, education, health and law pertaining to Scotland. All the material submitted will be viewed by an expert panel, drawn from BBC Scotland and BBC Academy, following a criteria. They will select up to 24 delegates, with up to 5 on a waiting list.
As BBC is committed to have a culturally diverse workforce, applications are welcome from under represented groups and individuals from all backgrounds. The closing date for applications is 14th January (Sunday) by 23:59 hrs. Successful delegates will be notified by 9th February (Friday). Details can are available at the BBC website.
