A free workshop, as part of World Voice 2017, will be held on 15th October (Sunday), at the Myle Cross Centre in Lincoln (Lincolnshire). The World Voice event is a project being run by the British Council and soundLINCS. The event offers a unique opportunity and invaluable experience to anybody involved in singing, by bringing a lively range of repertoire and techniques to share. World Voice will have its master trainers working with UK-based vocal leaders. The trainers joining from Ethiopia and Jordan will offer an unequalled opportunity to music teachers, music facilitators, singing leaders, choir members and vocalists all alike.
Ethiopian Zeny Zerfu will be alongside Jordanian Sahar Khalifeh Shtiawi, master trainer, to share knowledge and cultural repertoire. World Voice leader, Jane Wheeler, will lead part of the day in the afternoon. World Voice is an international network of professionals, joining to ensure the world’s children and young people have access to highest quality singing education. World Voice’s master trainers and singing professionals from 17 different nations will be sharing songs and celebrating the power of singing.
British Council’s director of music, Cathy Graham, said wherever it goes across the world, the World Voice amazes her by its ability to transform for children and teachers the atmosphere of the classroom. She hoped that this latest residency will give an enjoyable experience first hand, of those transformative effects to everyone participating, through singing, and the experience of another culture too. The free workshop on vocal training runs from 10am to 3pm. As places are limited ,booking is required.
