The nationwide Family Festival starts this October, with a host of free activities for families. Delivered by Thurrock Adult Community College, the free workshops and after-school courses will be held to bring families together and participate in fun learning activities, at venues like Grays Library, South Ockendon Centre, Chadwell -St-Mary Centre, Purfleet Community Hub, Stifford Accorn Community Hub and the new Lightship Cafe.
Children aged between 4 & 12 years with families, will be able to join free after-school courses. They can get involved in Halloween craft activity, to make decorative items and in the October half-term join workshops like the Magic Magnet science sessions. Also being offered at the two libraries are ‘Wheel on the Bus’ rhyme and craft sessions, plus a toddler taster workshop- ‘Let’s Cook Together’, and during the half-term, a ‘Three Bears’ Chair Challenge’ for 4 to 7 year-olds, at Purfleet .
Family Learning can be transformative too, with further learning for parents, carers and it supports children at school to achieve.
