A free event by top business experts will be coming to Carlisle to raise awareness about what can be done to protect businesses from cyber attacks. The free event to beheld on 28th September (Thursday), at the Halston (in Carlisle), from 10am to 12pm, aims to educate firms about practical steps to be taken to protect against the increasing sophistication of cyber criminals.
The event jointly hosted by Carlisle Ambassadors, Get Safe Online, Cumbria’s Constabulary and Police and Crime Commissioner, will have many leading national cyber security experts presenting at the meet. They include Assistant Chief Constable TITAN, Alan Barr, who will outline the level of crime and Assistant Chief Constable from Cumbria Constabulary, Mark Webster, who will focus on cyber crimes.
Tony Neate, Chief Executive of Get Safe Online, will talk on the threat for small businesses and exploitation by cyber criminals, and how to protect themselves. The banking expert, Vin Pandha, from Lloyds Banking Group, will cover CEO fraud, “vishing: fraud, invoice fraud and ‘Social engineering’ by cyber criminals. The MD of QG Business Solutions, Brian Lightowler, will highlight on controls needed and on the General Data Protection Regulation to be implemented in May next year.
Peter McCall, Police & Crime Commissioner said they are bringing experts to support local organisations who rely on the internet. He added that the free event is open to all, that business community should consider whether they are protected sufficiently, that by taking a few simple steps they can safeguard in future.
