As the Tour of Britain cycle race arrives in Northumberland, exciting free activities and events will be held along the route, in communities. The events on Monday will be highlighting all things pedal-powered, with opportunities for residents to try out cycling. At Alnwick, in Bondgate Within, from 10am, a series of attractions will be on, including the stunt riding team 3Sixty. Come see in action the cycle-powered juice-maker, or have a go at balance bicycles with Active Northumberland. Willowburn Sports Centre will he hosting spinning cycles.
Bike Dr also invites people to bring in their bikes for a free check-up. Meanwhile there will be street performers, crafts, music, a bookstall and a Vintage 3-wheeler morgan on Church Street, in Rothbury, from 10am. Children’s sports will start at 1:30pm, outside the Parish Hall. For 3 to 5 year olds, there will be free sessions of balance-bike, from 2pm to 3pm. (Call on 01669-621462 to book places). Businesses in Alnwick are being urged to participate in the free event by dressing shop windows in the Tour of Britain theme and prizes will be given.
