The Nottingham October Festival returns again this year with a programmed spread over 6 weeks running from 30th September (Saturday) to 5th November (Sunday). The festival began in 2015 and the popular Spielgeltent returns to Old Market Square with the first event in the City.
The festival programme highlights include The Guilded Merkin Burlesque and Cabaret, the City’s Got Soul, the Team Edwin Sarr Band, the Royal Vauxhall, Fredie Mercury and Princess Di. There are events for children and also ticketed events, besides a number of free events, like the Yoga and Mindfulness sessions on 3rd October and on 6th October. Nottingham Youth Orchestra will hold a lunch-time concert. Gigantic, a local company manages the ticketing and has designed the site in partnership.
The councillor holding portfolio for leisure and culture, Dave Trimble, said the Spielgestent has been extremely popular over the past 3 years and Nottingham is the place to be this autumn. The chief executive officer, Brenden Moffet, of Marketing Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, said he looks forward to the return of the popular Spielgeltent with a range of activities and events for all ages lined-up. He pointed out that last year had over 500 attendees, but with additional events and the wider October programme, they expect even more visitors this year and more for the local economy.
