Many locations across the Mid and East Antrim borough and beyond will host events for the European Heritage Open Days, from 9th to 10th September, happening in Northern Ireland. Heritage and Nature: A Landscape of Possibilities – is the theme for 2017. A line-up of free events over the 2 days, to mark the occasion, will be running across the borough. Carnfunnock Country Hall, Andrew Jackson Cottage, Carrickfergus Museum and Civic Centre, US Rangers Museum, Carnlough Town Hall & Heritage Centre and Carrickfergus Town Hall, are all to host events. On 10th September, St. Cedma’s Parish Church will also host one such free event. The public can also learn a little more about the building’s background. It is open from 12:30pm to 6pm, on Sunday, to visitors, to explore the history of the graveyard, enjoy the architecture and the interiors. The quilting group of St. Cedma, Parish Piecemakers will also display their patchwork and quilting. Members will be at hand to answer questions and tea/coffee will be served to add to the experience.
