The Lincolnshire Chalk Streams Festival is being celebrated as a week-long festival from 21st to 25th August. It is free event for all ages and has something for everyone. Find guided walks to stream dipping, from story-telling to community clear trips. Although all events are free, booking is needed on some to ensure a place.
On Monday, 21st August, Hubbards Hills in Louth will host from 10am till noon, family fun with pond dipping and wellies will be needed. Children will, on 22nd August, Tuesday, be able to perform in a play and make props with the Rhubarb Theatre. The play to be held at Collection located in Lincoln. The session from 10am to 3pm, will be all about chalk streams.
On Wednesday, on 23rd August, from 10am to 11.30am, little kids with Rhubarb Theatre will have fun with interactive storytelling. Also on Wednesday, families can try practical conservation tasks to look after the beautiful chalk streams and will be joined by residents of Walton le Wold.
On Thursday, the 24th August, there will be guided walks. This 3-mile walk suable for all ages, will start from Willingham Woods, go up to Tealby and return. Walkers can enjoy the beautiful countryside and a tea-break at tea rooms in Tealby at half way, during the 10am to 1:30pm session.
The big festival finale is on 25th August, Friday, in Louth, hosted at Spout Yard, it will run from 11am to 2pm, will feature walkabout characters and live music. Prizes for the Lincolnshire Chalk Streams poetry competition will be given.
Project officer Ruth Craig remarked that the Loncolnshire Chalk Streams Festival celebrates this unique area of Lincolnshire and provides great ways for people to enjoy it, with practical activities walks and fun events, there’s something for everybody.
