The Barton Town Council is organising ‘Picnic In The Park’ this weekend, to be held on Sunday, the 6th August, in Barton town, at the Baysgarth Park. The free event, now in its 21st year, runs from 11am to 4pm, with lots of activities and games to engage the young ones, while parents enjoy the summer weather. So families are urged take along a picnic blanket, to get involved in the fun and free entertainment here, with a variety of free events for children that includes music, demonstrations and races. During the races, Barton Athletic Club will will provide commentary.
According to John Oxley, organiser, they’ve got kid’s races and football, with the Barton Juniors under 7’s and under 8’s. Heats in the football that starts at 11am. Races run by Barton Athletic Club start at 2:30pm. The police and town band will have stalls. Food will be provided by Baron Lions. Meals will be given out and sweets for all kids taking part. He said it will be a free event, an afternoon for families to enjoy a picnic, with lots of people here.
