Bideford in North Devon is offering free Wi-Fi made available in the town centre. The Wi-Fi service was installed in time for the recent Bideford Regetta and is available for use for residents and visitors along Bideford Quay, Cooper Street and Jubilee Square.
Thanks to the work and efforts of the newly elected mayor, Councillor Dermot McGeough, and the Bideford Town Centre Partnership, the hotspot has come live. The mayor is also a Torridge district councillor and he used funds for the project from his Torridge councillor grant. The mayor said he had difficulty in starting the project with the team he was working with, but the Partnership helped to bring it to fruition. He added that he was not stopping here and is already looking to expand the free Wi-Fi service to as many parts of the town.
The chairman of the Bideford Town Centre Partnership, Graham Blight, said the partnership is all about helping out to improve the town and he was happy to assist the Mayor and looks forward to the expansion too. He said the free Wi-Fi service was a good example of how the community can be helped by the town centre partnership.
