A free workshop, a unique session, on the afternoon of 15th July, will feature FuMar, a duo at the Cake and Ale Cafe in Carlisle, to bring music and art together to create a painting during the performance. The Parisian pianist Krys Markowski and Cumbrian saxophonist Phil Furneaux, will inspire Tindale-based artist Carol McDermott to create a new painting.
The duo are also working in Paris with four painters in a gallery. Phil Furneaux is also working in Manchester with a Kurdish drummer and painter. Alison Critchlow, the Cumbrian artist, will be working in Lancaster with FuMar.
The FuMar Music Cards will have every successful art music collaboration, with one side carrying the picture of the art and the other side a QR code link for the track. YouTube will stream the filmed and edited version of all the art music workshops.
Phil Funeaux who resides in Brampton, said they look forward to bring this idea to a Carlisle audience, to show how visual artists and musicians gain mutually the inspiration to improvise and paint.
The free workshop on 15 July will have an evening concert following it, where the art will also be on display and sale. The tickets will be available at the venue and the session starts at 7:30pm with Phil and Kry’s music.
