The Greenwich Dances 2017 runs from 16th June to 8th July, with a host of inspirational dance performances and a collection of free outdoor events and opportunities, with also talks and workshops. The event this year promises to be bigger than ever, with venues across the Royal Borough of Greenwich and forms part of the Royal Greenwich Festivals. The event in its 7th year get the local people to perform along with world-class artists.
The dance festival opens on Friday with Moving Woolwich, at Greenwich Gordon Square. Boy Blue will be performing in The Borough Hall, a one-off show over a three-course meal. The 30th anniversary of the movie Dirty Dancing goes with a free screening on 28 June, at Well Hall Pleasaunce in Eltham, including a related free workshop.
On Thamesmead. Greenwich Damce and Greemwich Docklamds are working together with locals to present ‘Belongings’, for the closing event. Fringe events throughout the festival includes exhibitions, workshops and discussions. Greenwich Dance gets funding from both the Royal Borough of Greenwich and the Arts Council England, to produce and present Greenwich Dances.
Greenwich Dances this year has many free events, without pre-booking, to just turn up on the day. Limited tickets at a cost can be booked in advance for performances at The Borough Hall.
