This year’s Bike Week will be held from 10th to 18th June and will comprise of hundreds of free events. Bike Week aims to celebrate ‘every day cycling for everyone’, trying to persuade half a million and more people to find ‘fun and freedom’, by taking to two wheels on a regular basis.
Bike Week will have events being held up and down the UK, ranging from bike breakfasts to traffic-free family friendly rides and even naked bike rides. The event is promoted by Cycling UK, with Halfords partnering and Cycling Scotland supporting it in Scotland. Participating bikers will be offered a free bike check-up at Halfords outlets, where bikes will get a once over by staff, without the need to book. Bikers also get 20% discount on the price of gold, silver or bronze servicing.
Paul Tuoby, Chief Executive of Cycling UK, said their theme this year is ‘fun and freedom’, as the Bike Week event is the country’s excuse for a party on bike. He suggests that if you just wish to getaway from the daily grind, or are out with friends, or planning a family get-together, join half a million people taking part from 10 to 18 June in the Bike Week.
