April 28th, 2017 by Sandy

To mark World Tai Chi Day, UK Shaolin Temple of Southampton will host on Saturday (29 April), a half-hour free session in Shirrley, for people who have never tried out Tai Chi. Visitors can try out the class from 10am to 10:30am, with Shi Yan Min, the 34th generation warrior monk from China. The event covers relaxation, deep breathing and flowing movements. It will be streamed live via Facebook (facebook.com/dailyecho).

The World Tai Chi Day aims to educate people of the health and well-being benefits of this form of the martial arts. Benefits of this form not only gives improved well-being but also flexibility and stress reduction. Shi Yan Min said that they had only two students for Tai Chi and held one class in a week, before they opened the Shaolin Temple here, but now they have 40 students over 4 classes per week. There is no need of previous experience nor any age limit and everyone is encouraged to join the free session at the temple in Shirley.
