A free two-week arts festival will take over Brent with theatre productions from 1st April to 13th April. The launch at Tricycle Theatre on Kilbum High Road is for the fourth Mapping Brent project with satellite venues in Kilburn, Harlesden, Wembley Park, Sotnebridge, South Kilburn and Neasden.

Six unique plays are being worked upon by a selected participants with professional playwrights and directors working with them. The plays explore themes like coming of age, expectations of society and community.

The creative learning director, Liam Shea, a the Tricycle said this is the first time they ate taking the project over Brent. He added they want to reach out to people in the borough and those who may have never visited the theatre and it is a free event with no barrier for anybody coming.

Tricyle Theatre’s Artitic Director, Indhu Rubasingham, said they felt it was a great opportunity to reach out with the creative learning programme while refurbishing the theatre. It is vital for young people to get exposed to art and for their well-being, confidence and independence.
