Free events at family festival to explore Clyde and Avon Valley

A family festival that will explore Clyde and Avon Valley will be packed with free events. The events will run from 16th to 19th May. Over the 9 days some 37 family-friendly events will happen. It includes photography walks, guided walks, talks, musical performances, children’s activities, exclusive tours, a song-writing workshop and an open day orchard. Only 2 events are not free. Along with the rourist destinations like Fall of Clyde, Dalzelll Estate and Chatelherault County Park, are venues in Stonehouse, Larkhall and Hamilton. The event starts off with the Overton Farm hosting the popular Blossom Day. Visitors will be able to enjoy a school art competition, shop for local produce and crafts, at the crafts fair and farmers market.

Communications officer of Clyde and Avon Valley Landscape Partnership (CAVLP), who are the organisers, Sarah O’Sullivan, said now its third year, the festival is growing from strength to strength, a testament to the enthusiasm of this unique part of Scotland. Programme Manager of CAVLP, Donna Marshall, said the Blossom day signals the arrival of the Clyde Valley blossoms, a reminder of those who cared for orchards throughout history, as a unique feature in the wider landscape.
