Norwich’s first medieval churches weekend will celebrate with more than 50 free events over three days from 29th April. Named Flintspiration, it will see many events, from entertain g re-enactments to circus workshops, with the chance to celebrate such churches that have been the centre of Norwich history for centuries. Both visitors and local residents get an opportunity to explore, discover and learn about these churches, Northern Europe’s largest collection of medieval churches.

Events include family-friendly activities, performances, music and theatre. There will be walks, talks, fairs, exhibitions, open churches, and fairs. There will be circus workshops for kids, demonstrations of traditional arts and skills, puppet making, murals and much more. There will be a character led trail, Margery’s Quest, to introduce Norwich’s most celebrated figures in medieval history and early music performances.

The Heritage Lottery Fund East of England has helped in funding the project. Its head, Robyn Llewellyn, said they are delighted to support Norwich Historic Churches Trust (NHCT) to promote the city’s great medieval heritage and show off the wonderful churches, to new audience, and their fascinating stories and treasures.

The vice chair of NHCT, Neil Blunt,is project director to the event. He said they were excited to have lined-up events with something for everybody including families. For people wanting to know more about these historic churches this is a unique opportunity, he added. So, don’t miss the free events during this historic Norwich weekend.
