Celebrating the next generation of film making, the prestigious Wtersprite Awards will have the nominated films, some form Myanmar, Turkey and South Africa, running over the weekend in a packed schedule of screenings and events, set by the organisers and competing in 13 genre and technical award categories.
The winners, including Filmmaker of the Future and Film of the Year, will be announced at the Fitzwilliam Museum, on 11th March in Cambridge. The films will be tackling social issues  such as, violence against Turkish women, corruption of mainstream hip-hop music, border disputes and refugee crisis.

The events explore a range of subjects. They include LGBT representation in film, a political protest in the Middle East, the art of student film-making, plus master-classes in script-writing, directing and cinematography.
The festival will have guest speakers, in the likes of Paul J Franklin and Gareth Milne and appearances by Dr. Jonny Keeling and Roger Michell. All events and workshops have free entry, are open to all film fans and to be held at the Main Lecture Theatre, Palmerston Room and Lightfoot Room of the university, and the Arts Picturhouse cinema.
