Open Day at Snettisham Beach Sailing Club
Snettisham Beach Sailing Club will be opening its doors on 20th May (Saturday), from noon onwards, for its Open Day. As part of the ‘Push The Boat Out’ national initiative by the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) to promote sailing and to discover champions, all are welcome to try out sailing for free.
The free taster session starts from12.30 on the sea and all day long on the lake. If you book on the day of the event, on any RYA course, you can save 10%. No previous experience is necessary and anyone from 8 years and above can join, but children must be accompanied by an adult. However the adult needn’t go sailing. Just bring footwear that can get wet, a change of clothes, a towel and a wind-proof top. No need to book a free taster session, just come along and chat with members about sailing. Chance to get free tickets to The Great Escape festival
The festival for new music – The Great Escape, has added 100 artists to its line-up for this year (2017), which is scheduled to be held in Brighton from 18th to 20th May. Already signed up are some leading acts like Ray BLK, Rag’n’Bone Man, Nilufer Yanya and Cabbage. A Spotlight Show Spectacular is ‘Slaves Pier Party’ at the festival. The act will take over the Brighton Pier and the fairground. Ride tokens are included to the entry ticket, with rides available at the end of the pier as part of the fairground delights.
To get the chance to receive a free ticket, festival-goers can register for the event. With shows presented by DIY, other acts included are Stefflon Don, with her crossover between hip hop, dance-hall, BnB and grime. There’s also Cosima’s rich and soulful music and Sampa The Great, the African-Australian poet and singer-songwriter with her hip hop and rap mix. Amber Bain comes with her new project- The Japanese Studio. Marika Hackman will showcase tracks from her upcoming album.
There will also be acts by Salen, Tom Grennan, The Music Gang and Tired Lion, the Australian punk rockers. The Great Escape is working with Swiss Music Export to bring some hot artists from Switzerland.
