The Bury Rugby Club is offering free taster sessions for women, as part of a new nationwide campaign- ‘Meet Your Inner Warrior’, by England Rugby, launched this month. The campaign will see clubs stage special sessions across the county to encourage more women an girls to take up contact rugby and also free Warrior Camps are being run in the hope that they will take it up and join a club locally.
The North East based Bury Rugby Club (of Greater Manchester) will be holding the event on 29th January (Sunday) at their base, in Radcliffe Road, from 2pm onwards. Phil Kay who is women and girls manager at Bury RUFC, believes the lessons can help women break down their mental block in taking up rugby.
The sessions, which are fun, teach the basics, are aimed at women who are between 18 and 35 years and are actually part of the 100 ‘Warrior Camps’, running from 19th to 29th January, across the county, run by clubs. Those interested in a free taster session can attend a Pitch Up & Play ‘Warrior Camp’ event. They should wear normal workout gear and trainers.
