Chance to get retro fashion at Dundee
The Bonar Hall at Dundee University will be hosting the Preloved Vintage Kilo event on 11th February in Dundee, from 10am to 5pm. The event allows visitors to shop through 6 tonnes of retro fashion, filled with “pre-loved” clothes and shoes brought in a travelling roadshow. Organisers say the event appeals to not just vintage fashion fans, but also to those looking for sustainability.
Manager of the Preload Vintage Kilo event, Jess Gregory, said the clothes are sourced from across he globe. He said that some come for the love and concept of sustainability and recycling, while others love to rake through to find a great dress. They also have branded items, the manager added. Those interested can get entry from a limited number of free tickets available from the site- bit.ly/DundeeKilo. Otherwise it’ll cost £1.50 for entry on the day.
Free workshops supporting RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch at Chelmsford
Chelmsford will be hosting a series of free wild bird workshops, from 23rd January, in support of RSPB’s event- the Big Garden Birdwatch.. Parents and children will get the opportunity to educate themselves and the next generation, on how to responsibly care and help provide care to local birds and wildlife.
The workshops series, called My Pet Pals WildBird, are being hosted by Chelmsford’s Pets at Home and will be covering various topics, such as, how and what to feed birds, how to help them survive the cold winter months and how human behaviour affects surrounding wildlife negatively.
Children can learn to identify birds and also how to attract certain species, using materials from the workshop, to the out door spaces locally available and to their gardens. The friendly colleagues of pets at Home will be offering expertise to help children to learn with fun about everything they can in helping wild birds.
Over half a million people from across Britain are expected to participate in the Big Garde Birdwatch by RSPB, by counting the birds in their gardens from 28th to 30th January. Other wildlife they sight will also be recorded, to provide a vital snapshot of nature in UK.
On completing the workshops, every child will get to take home an A3 poster to help them identify birds around them, some stickers, activity sheets and leaflets with detail on how to send off for a Big Garden Birdwatch pack.
