October 15th, 2016 by Sandy

A free event called ‘OMG! Girls in Tech’, will be hosted on 28th October, at the UKFast Campus in Manchester. The event is promoted by UKFast, Liverpool Girl Geeks and Clicky Media, the digital marketing agency. The free event, designed to help kick-start careers in tech and digital industries for women, are targeted at potential women of 18 years and above. It will feature talks, networking and workshops at the venue. Keynote speaker is Kate Willard, Stobart Group’s Head of Corporate Projects. Other inspiring women drawn from a range of industries will address the delegates at the event.

Founder of Clicky Media, Oliver Yeates, also its CEO, said they are passionate about inspiring people to get into digital and tech industries. They go out of the way to encourage talented women to join and strive for equality, knowing about the vital and talented contributions they make, he added. He is encouraging women to this industry that’s set to grow exponentially, to fill up jobs available and meed demand for qualified graduates. Although young girls are interested, only 7% of girls take up computer studies at ‘A’ level and those at higher education, only 17% are women, he pointed out. He wanted OMG! Girls in Tech, the free event, to be a catalyst to change all this.
