Chelsea is celebrating Bill Wyman’s 80th birthday with and exhibition of never-seen-before photographs taken by him of the Rolling Stones band. Proud Galleries, on King’s Road, Chelsea, London, is celebrating Wyman’s birthday by opening next month the ‘Around the World in 80 Years’ exhibition.
The former Rolling Stone bassist’s rare unpublished photographs of the band, from early years to international stardom will be displayed. The exhibition promises a behind-the-scenes look at the Rolling Stones. The free show to be hosted at Proud Chelsea, will be from 19th October to 27th November and the official launch would be on 24th October, on Bill Wyman’s 80th birthday.
One photograph shows David Bowie and Ronnie Wood relaxing following a recording session in 1975, at Los Angeles and Brian Jones on the way to the European tour of 1967, pictured in a rear-view mirror. Wyman was gifted his first camera by his uncle, when he was a boy and became interested in photography from then. He said about shooting taking photos that he preferred to capture unstaged and natural candid photos, keeping out of the way.
