Warwickshire Wildlife Trust has a new nature reserve to open on the outskirts of Coventry, thanks to more than £130,000 worth of legacy donations got. The donations were left by local people in their wills to be gifted to the charity.
Communications officer at Warwickshire Wildlife Trust, Louise Barrack, said they were excited to open the new nature reserve. They had been for a number of years putting together the gifts left by people to them and were lucky enough to get Heritage Lottery to help them to buy the site, she added. The site, an ancient woodland measuring around 45 hectares, dates back to the 16th century. Sandwiched between Wappenbury and Ryton woods, it will be a reserve home to around 19 species of butterflies, 43 types of birds and 27 types of fungi and a joy for avid horticulturists.
On 24th October, a Fungi Foray event, then on 26yh October, a Ultimate Den Building and on 27th October, a Spooktacular Bubbenhall, in time for Halloween, are part of the trust’s series of free family events in the new nature reserve.
