Black History Month to be celebrated across Enfield

The celebrations for the Black History Month will betaking place all across Enfield, throughout October. The annual festival will host a series of events, all through the month, in recognition of contributions made to the borough and UK by black people. The event will be showcasing many workshops, live performances and music, honouring the history, culture and achievements of the black community.

Free taster sessions will be offered in African martial arts, at the Pineapple Punch Festival, on 8th October, Saturday, with live music featured at the Dugdate Centre on London Road. To highlight black models and icons, the festival will showcase the Jon Daniel Afro Superheroes exhibition, a collection of comics, games, action figures and memorabilia of prominent black people. Other events will held across the borough, at the libraries and at Edmonton’s Millfield Arts Centre. Hosted will be drama productions, comedies, iconic films and lectures, all celebrating the history of blacks.

Cabinet Member for Community, Arts & Culture, councillor Yasemin Brett, said they have a brilliant programme planned throughout October, offering something for everyone and urged residents to explore some of the great and free events being hosted.
