The Kingston-based Brazilian martial arts school, the Marcus-Cabeca’s School of Capoeira, is offering free classes in Acton. The Acton Reynolds Sports Centre, Gunnersbury Lane, will be running the classes right up to 26th October.
The capoeira school celebrated its 10th anniversary this year. It has been given funding under the FreeSport initiative and is running the classes for those aged 12 years to 22 years at the venue located in Acton, London. The scheme is meant for those who are less likely to engage in physical activity and encourages active participation .
Marcus Cabeca, who was originally from Sao Paolo, also actively promotes the martial art, first began teaching the Brazilian capoeira in classes at Kingston in 2006. It combines dance and music with self-defence, plus wider Brazilian culture. The Coca-Cola Zero’s Park Lives scheme and the Mayor of London together promote the FreeSport initiative, providing finance to some 150 organisations, with up to £1,500 twice in the year. The free classes are being held on Wednesdays at 7:30pm. To get more details email to info@axecapoeirauk.com.
