Tigers In The Park to host a Rio Festival

September 4th, 2016 by Sandy

The magic of Brazil will be recreated for Tigers In The Park, with a Rio Carnival ready for 10th September (Saturday), in Leicester. The free event starts from 11am and goes up to kick-off time at 3pm. The Tigers In The Park event starts a new season with the first game being Leicester Tigers against Wasps, on that Saturday at the Leicester Tigers’ Stadium.

This year, Tigers In The Park returns better and bigger, and is based at the park opposite the stadium, the Nelson Mandela Park. The ‘Olympic Park’ area here features Leicester Tigers Wheelchair Rugby demonstrations and master-classes, plus tag rugby, archery and tennis. There’s also appearances from The Gym Group and Leicester Fencing, as well as sporting activities. A beach will be created in the Copacabana Area, featuring an obstacle race, bouncy castle, surf simulator, inflatable slide and beach volleyball.

The ‘Samba Stage’ will host Rio Carnival performances by Original Movements dance group and live music from Sambando, The Black Eagles, The Ellipsis and also the band Dynamite Dynamite. The fan’s food court is good for picnics. Enjoy the entertainment and activities, fit for all in the family, at this free event to celebrate the success of British athletes at the Olympics and the start of a new season.
