Free floorball session at Farnham, part of I Am Team GB initiative

August 25th, 2016 by Sandy

UK is celebrating its own sports day, inspired by the wonderful performance at the Olympics. On 27th August (Saturday), thousands of clubs across the country will be opening their doors to people, encouraging them to come along and have a go at a sport or game.

Under the initiative ‘Join In- I Am Team GB’, there are sports being offered to ordinary people and not just the sporting kind, to try out. Farnham Unihockey and Floorball Club, under this initiative, is running a free drop-in session at Farnham Leisure Centre, from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm, open to anyone, from the ages of 8 to 15 years. GB Floorball national team members will run the free session there. They believe that within 5 minutes of picking up a stick, they will get someone to play the game.

Floorball hockey is a newly recognised Olympic sport. The growth of the sport must be because of the enjoyment it gives to participating players. From its first world cup held twenty years back, it is now being played in 62 countries. Other activities include Can do Running Aldershot, a park run in Farnham in Alice Holt, field hockey at Monkton Lane, dressage in Guildford and much more.
