The Dartmoor Wildlife Festival will be taking place on the 28th August (Tuesday), at the Meldon Old Quarry, this summer. This family-friendly free event hosted together by Okehampton Hamlets Parish Council joining hands with the Dartmoor National Park, will help people discover what’s special about Dartmoor’s wildlife, according to Conservation and Outreach officer, Clare Partridge, at Dartmoor National Park. The largest land slug in the world is home to Dartmoor, so is the very small fairy shrimp. It shows the wealth of Dartmoor’s unique and fascinating creatures.

The event shows why Dartmoor is a haven for wildlife and internationally important. The venue near Okehampton, the Meldon Old Quarry signed off the B 3260 is opposite to Betty Cottles. The free event, starts from 10:30am to run till 4:00pm, organised by the Datrmoor National Park Authority and Okehampton Scouts, its wildlife partner at Meldon.
