Free Swim Safe sessions returning, now at Sandhaven beach

August 4th, 2016 by Sandy

The Swim Safe programme for outdoor swimming and water safety sessions for children, returns to South Shields, running between 3rd and 20th August, at the Sandhaven beach, South Tyneside. The free swimming initiative is being delivered by a project made by a partnership between the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNIL) charity and the Amateur Swimming Association (ASA).

Councillor Alan Smith, who is Mayor of Tyneside, said that it is imperative children are aware of the dangers of being in and around open water. He added that a great way for youngsters to learn how to identify dangerous situations and hazards, is through the free sessions of Swim Safe and also to build confidence and water safety skills to help them in the future. Wetsuits and swimming hats, plus a goody bag and T-shirt, will be provided to the young participants. Parents can either simply come along on the day, or book their children for a Swim Safe session at the website- swimming.org/SwimSafe.
