Organiser of the Northbound Festival will be arranging a free street party in Cockermouth, on the Main street, to be held on 6th August, Saturday. The free event is to celebrate the town’s recovery from the devastating floods in December.
The Northbound Street Party will be held from 11am to 9pm, featuring a main stage, an acoustic stage, a picnic area, children’s activities and a bar. The main stage will open with Luke Matear, local loop pedal legend, and a line-up with Colt45 and with CrowDog and Mojo Rising, the local bands. After-parties in the bars and clubs of Cockermouth will follow the main event. The Globe will host DJs, with acoustic performances throughout the day and night. The Brown Cow will be showcasing bands from across the county and outside. CN Events is organising the free event and is supported by the LEP Flood Recovery Fund and the Allerdale Council.
Over the coming days, more acts and venues will be announced. With the town on the road to recovery, after the Storm Desmond devastated and flooded Cockermouth and other areas across Cumbria, the street party brings Cumbrians together in a show of community spirit and overwhelming positive attitude and resolve. Anybody can join in the free event to show support for the town and all affected people of Cumbria. Email to Ella Fearon for more information on the festival at ella.fearon@cnmedia.co.uk.
