Folk On The Dock is the new folk festival to be held at Albert Dock’s main stage during the last weekend in August (27 and 28 August) over the August Bank Holiday (29 August). Janice Long, the BBC Radio 2 DJ, will be hosting the event, described as an “exuberant celebration of live acoustic folk, sea shanty and roots music”, which is part of the Albert Dock Liverpool 175 celebration.
Janice Long, the Liverpool-born broadcaster is renown to promote new talent. She began her career on BBC Radio Merseyside and is now the first female presenter of Top of the Pops. The marketing manager at Abert Dock Liverpool, Clare Rawlinson, said that Janice is another success in the rich musical heritage of Liverpool. He also said he was happy to have Janice as host and her knowledge of old and new music is encyclopedic, with audiences loving her.
The festival line up includes- John Loomes, Merry Hell, Tom Kitching, Winter Wilson, Alasdair Roberts Trio, The Lost Brothers, Blair Dunlop and others. There are ticketed elements to the programme, but the folk music festival in Liverpool is a free event.
