Luton town will be getting a beach next month! Love Luton will be hosting the ‘Summer in the Sun’, a free event which will be running from 20th August to 26th August. Sponsored by ‘Luton on Sunday’, the event will see the Bedfordshire town’s George Square transform into a ‘beach’.
The space filled with more than 100 tonnes of sand, will have people enjoying it with the deck chairs, games, dance, donkey rides and live music being planned. Families can enjoy activities like viewing the square form a ferris wheel, slide down a helter skelter, or enjoy Punch and Judy shows. Other activities include bouncy castles, Heart’s Angels, a wordsearch competition with an opportunity to win 2 flights by courtesy of EasyJet. On Saturday, 20th August, the entertainment will start at 12noon.
Chairperson of Love Luton, Linsey Frostick, said they are happy to host the ‘Summer in the Sun’ event for the 4th year. It promises to be a bigger and better event over 7 days of fun with additions, she added. The ‘beach opens every day, during the free event, from 11:30am to 6:30pm.
