Free events during U. Dance Festival at the Lowry

The biggest celebration of youth dance of the nation comes to the Lowry, at Salford Quay, this year, from 8th July to 10th July. U. Dance the young people’s dance festival will see 450 young dancers from across UK performing at the Lowry, over the course of the 3-day festival there will be 6 main performances and 48 workshops, including a number of free events across the venue.

Almost 300 dance groups have applied, of which 19 have been selected for the festival. The groups have 11 to 19 year old youngsters and from dance styles that include contemporary, South African, hip hop and street dance. There will be advice sessions for young people interested in a career in dance, besides the performances being hosted.

Claire Somerville, festival organiser, said it is an opportunity for everyone to see dance of high quality by young people from across the nation.
