An unique event will be held in Ipswich, at the Donalds Volvo dealership, on 14th and 15 May. The distinct prop, the Iron Throne, the iconic seat used in the popular TV show Games of Thrones, will be on display exclusively at the dealership on West End Road, Ipswich. The hit show which can be seen on Sky Atlantic (Volvo sponsored channel), features the Iron Throne, which is built out of the swords belonging to vanquished lords.
People are welcome to have their picture taken with the “throne”, free of charge, at the Volvo dealership hosting this one-off event by securing the prop for the weekend. Group marketing manager, Benjamin Grant, said he had seen on Volvo’s Facebook feed that they had done a pop-up shop with the throne at a Volvo event in Manchester. So he wrote asking them if it were available for dealerships. It was made available for that weekend. He added that it is quite exclusive to have it for a dealership.
The free event will allow members of the public to snap their pictures with the “throne” and can take part in a quest and competition too. They are encouraged to come dressed as their favourite character from the Games of Thrones.
