Market Rasen Town Council has planned a family open day on 23rd April, Saturday, at the Market Rasen Festival-Hall, Lincolnshire, to showcase what the venue has to offer. It will be held from 10:00am to 3:00pm. The council intends to renovate the hall and is preparing for a £400,000 bid. To increase the chance of winning grant funding, the council has appointed business associate Nicole Marshall to promote the facility. The free fun-filled event will host free taster sessions, which will include Samba, keep-fit, belly dancing, line dancing, balloon dancing and wrestling. There will also be a puppet show, soft play, karaoke, a disco and entertainment for children.
The open day will also have the ‘flower club’ of the town displaying their work. One part of the hall will be dressed up in the style of a wedding. On display will be designer’s plans, of how the hall would look on renovation. People are invited to bring in their old photos of the hall, to be shown for other people. Ms. Marshall said the event is for people to see the venue and how it cab be hired for parties and functions. People also get the chance to join the project, with the launch of Friends of Festival Hall. And they can offer their time and ideas, or can run a group, or club, or activity here. Besides the free event, there will be a free tea dance by Gwen and Gary Cole on 17th April, Sunday, from 3pm to 7pm, which is separate event.
