Free Tai Chi classes for all in Alton

April 14th, 2016 by Sandy

In celebration of World Tai Chi and Qigong Day, Alton’s Public Gardens in East Hampshire, will be hosting free open-to-all sessions of Tai Chi and Qigong, on 30th April, Saturday, run by Sue Kelly the Tai Chi tutor from East Hampshire Leisure Learning. There will be also a Tai Chi demonstration with ACA Pre-School, for pre-school children.

To introduce people to benefit from and learn Tai Chi or Qigong, the World Tai Chi Day was started in 1999. It is a means to improve balance and can be practised either seated or standing, which is ideal as a form of exercise for anybody in any level of fitness.

Tai Chi is known to help people to reduce stress, increase muscle strength, general mobility, co-ordination and improve balance. The ancient Chinese health care system of Qigong integrates breathing techniques, physical postures and focus intention.
