Bradford to host festival of free walking and cycling

A festival to celebrate the conclusion of Sustran’s ‘Learning to Travel Differently’ project, will start in Bradford on Monday, 7th March. This is a 10-day event involving free cycling, walking and sustainability events with the sessions running until 16th March (Wednesday).
The festival opens with Kevin Walker, the mountain adventurer, giving an inspirational talk entitled ‘Walking as Way of Life’, at the University of Bradford, to be held from 6:30pm in the Richmond Building. Another highlight is ‘From Hard Rain to Whole Earth’, a slide show and talk on climate change by Mark Edwards. It will be held on 10th March, Tuesday, at the Kala Sangam, from 6:00pm. On 15th March, Tuesday, there will be a talk by Reece Gladhill, on ‘Cycling the World and the Kindness of Strangers’, in the Lister Art Gallery at Bradford College.
The ‘Learning to Travel Differently’ project aims to increase travel by foot, bikes and public transport, mainly to college or university. It was a Sustran’s partnership with Bradford College, University of Bradford, Bradford Council and Cycle-re-Cycle.
