Free tickets to Are You Being Served sitcom recording
Are You Being Served is a legendary hit sitcom of BBC. It will return to the TV screens later in the year and a new episode of the series will be recorded. There will be a one-off special recording, as part of the Landmark Sitcom Season of BBC One. The episode will be recorded on 5th March (Saturday) in Salford.
The original comedy was written and created by Jeremy Lloyd and David Croft, based on the experiences Jeremy Lloyd had, while working in a department store. The sitcom had created star status for its cast. It created a range of iconic comedy characters, such as, Mrs. Slocombe (played by Mollie Sugdan), Miss Brahms (played by Wendy Richard), Mr. Humphries (played by John Inman), Mr. Rumbold (played by Nicholas Smith) and Captain Peacock (played by Frank Thornton). The show ran successfully over 10 series till 1985.
It is reported that a number of sitcoms are being considered for revival and sequels, besides Are You Being Served and Open All Hours, those such as, Keeping Up Appearances and Porridge. Free tickets are available for the recording through the BBC website (www.bbc.co.uk/showsandtours/shows/are_you_being_served_5mar16). One can apply for a maximum of 2 tickets and register it until 11am on 22nd February (Monday). Allocation is via a random draw.
Free to attend Liverpool Loves Festival is back
Following last year’s big success of the inaugural Liverpool Loves Festival, this free event will be returning to Pier Head this year, running from 4th to 6th August, but now bigger and better, announced the organisers, Orb CIC. Liverpool Loves will focus on culture, business, food and well-being, celebrating and promoting what Liverpool has best to offer.
Of the 3 days, Thursday will be focusing more on business and hosting an event for local entrepreneurs. Friday will host a stand-alone event, showcasing Liverpool Loves Nightlife. The Saturday event is billed as a ‘festival day’, hosting the main 12-hour event, an exciting finale to the programme this year and ending on a sunset on the main stage. The programme will have Brazilian dancers, African drummers, Arab and Asian art, other art installations and more. There will be lots of events and exciting activities for young people, families and their children.
The well-being programme will include children’s yoga, healthy eating businesses, Reiki taster sessions, Morning Gloryville and more. Liverpool Loves will also get involved its performers, suppliers, producers and businesses in Liverpool. Over 30 local independent food and drink stalls, and bars, will be present.
Josh Boyd, the event organiser, said the team at Orb CIC are all excited and dubbed as ‘The People Festival’, this free event will live up to it, as in 2015, offering something for everyone of all ages and interests.
