Dance City celebrates anniversary with taster classes at open day
Dance City will be holding an open day to celebrate its 30th anniversary, offering free dance taster classes for all ages. The open day on 21st February will be offering over 1,000 places in taster classes for both children and adults.
The free dance taster classes are open to all, regardless of age, experience or ability. There will be a few open drop-in sessions on the day, but the majority of places have to be booked in advance. Dance City is celebrating 30 years of dancing in the North East, by hosting exciting free activities including craft activities, face painting, fancy dress, etc. on the open day, from 10:00am to 4:00pm.
There will be a wide variety of styles offered on the free taster session. There are classes specially developed for persons aged 55 and above too. Prince Trust teams up with M&S for free training
The Prince’s Trust charity, which helps young people to get work, will be hosting a month-long logistics programme, teaming up with famous retailer Marks & Spencer (M&S). The course is free and will have participants undergo 2 weeks of training. It will be followed by a fortnight-long placement at M&S’s massive Castle Donington distribution hub and warehouse.
The charity is aiming at young job-seekers preferably aged 18 to 25, who are not employed, or not in training or education, or studying lesser than 11 hours weekly, or working lesser than 15 hours weekly. Incentives being offered to encourage people to take part in the free training includes travel costs (reimbursed) and food (£5 voucher) for each day. The Prince’s Trust says that candidates will get a chance to be offered a position at M&S, if proven to be hard working and punctual, on successful completion of their free training. The course covers picking, dispatching and employability skills, with 2 weeks as a warehouse operative.
