A specialist art and design college, the Cleveland College of Arts & Design (CCAD), is driving forward the creative skills agenda by hosting the Future Creative Skills event, on 16th February, at the CCAD’s Hartlepool campus, from 5:30 pm. The event is organised by the college in collaboration with Creative Industries Federation (CIF), which is a national membership organisation for cultural education, arts and creative industries.
The Future Creative Skills event has two leading industry professionals as guest speakers. One is Eliza Easton, CIF’ policy and research manager. The other is Stuart Bikett, MD of dcjMedia, the newspaper group. Eliza Easton will be focusing on the national outlook, the need for an industry-wide strategy and driving the industry-education links. Stuart Bikett will be addressing the debate from a regional perspective.
Pat Chapman of CCAD, head of Employability and Enterprise, is hosting the free event. The event seeks to build on success of employees and to meet further needs. It will hear on issues, taking the perspective of the creative industry and education sector. UK’s creative skills industry is seen growing by 8.9% in 2014, double the growth of the economy. DCMS says the sector has contributed £84.1 billion to the economy, rising by £7 billion from the previous year.
