Magnificent Winchester Cathedral to be revealed in a free event

January 22nd, 2016 by Sandy

A free event will offer the rare opportunity to see behind the scenes at the amazing Winchester Cathedral. An open evening is being offered on 26 January, Tuesday, to get to see the magnificent architecture of the building. Or see how the cathedral’s ancient manuscripts are restored and preserved. You can try your hand at Bell-ringing or watch the work of the flower arrangers and much more.
The open eventing starts at 5:30pm, with the Evensong sung by the Cathedral Choir. From 6:30pm to 8:30pm, it is followed by activities and seeing displays. Another highlight is seeing the work of the stone-masonry team. Look at those who look after the vestments. A permanent exhibition of Jane Austen, who is laid to rest here, can be seen. The Boy Choristers will give a short recital at 7:30pm. Free entry for visitors to the event. For more details visit the website- winchester-cathedral.org.uk.
