A new course by the Hartlepool Stage Society for those interested in singing is being planned. The taster sessions for singing are being launched by the society on 21st January, Thursday, for those aged 7 and more. The venue is the Thorton Grange Community Centre, the home of the society. An evening of free taster sessions will include group vocal training sessions, will cover from close harmony singing to choir work, which is new for 2016.
Sessions planned between 6:00pm and 7:00pm, are for children from 7 to 14 years age. Sessions for adults for anyone over 15, will be held between 7:15pm and 8:30pm. The musical director of the junior section of the society, Sarah Burton, said members were keen to do something different and thought this kind of choir would be good, but is open to all as well. The society, formerly the Gilbert and Sullivan Society, celebrated its 60th anniversary recently. Last year, the society had a packed programme of events.
